Clark County NV Monitoring Program

Clark County NV Monitoring Program

The Clark County (Yucca Mountain) Monitoring Program was developed to provide a foundation for on-going policy discussions and a baseline from which economic, fiscal, or social changes could be monitored over time. The Program was designed in furtherance of the Clark County’s Impact Assessment Report (2002) that analyzed potential economic, fiscal, environmental, and public safety impacts of the transportation and storage of high-level nuclear waste at the Yucca Mountain Nuclear Waste Repository. Currently, the program monitors over 2,200 indicators in the valley with reports released quarterly that examine specific trends within economic, demographic, fiscal, environmental, and public health and safety categories. Most importantly, the monitoring program has now become a seminal tool in promoting inter-agency dialogue and brings together public and private sectors in the region on a common platform.
