Brownfields Community-Wide Petroleum Products Assessment

Brownfields Community-Wide Petroleum Products Assessment

UER and GeoTek, were contracted by Clark County Redevelopment Agency (CCRA) to perform a 36-month environmental site assessment (ESA) to identify any potential sources of environmental risk or liability on the project area consisting of three non-contiguous sub-areas totaling 166 acres of abandoned buildings and aging retail establishments in central Las Vegas. The assessment process included a site reconnaissance and sampling, record reviews, identification of data gaps, and interviews with representatives of the public, property management, and regulatory agencies. A project management protocol was developed which complied with the Brownfield grant requirements, as well as U.S. EPA, State of Nevada, and Clark County requirements. At the completion of the contract, the project area was determined to be either redevelopable through a series of Phase I and Phase II ESAs or contamination was characterized so that any additional remediation (Phase III) could be undertaken. The final output of the project was an end use plan that allows CCRA to implement a redevelopment effort consistent with their mission.
